Patient's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities Post-Op Information Financial Information Anesthesia Pre-Op Information: Unless instructed otherwise, do not have any food or drink after midnight on the day of surgery. This includes water, unless otherwise directed. You may be instructed by the nursing staff or your physician to take morning medications with a “sip” of water. Please leave all valuables (cash, jewelry, electronics, etc.) at home. USC cannot take any responsibility for your valuables. Please remove your ear rings and/or body piercings prior to arriving at the Surgery Center. If you wear glasses or contacts, please bring a case to place them in during your surgery/procedure. Make sure that you bring your insurance cards, photo ID, and any deductible or coinsurance that you will be required to pay. Please do not wear any make-up. If your surgery/procedure involves your hands/arms or feet/legs, remove any nail polish before arriving at the surgery center. Wear loose, comfortable clothing (including underwear) that will not constrict circulation and will be easy to put on following your surgery/procedure. Please keep in mind that you may have a dressing in place that your cloths must fit over. If you are taking Coumadin, Aspirin, or any other type of blood thinner, please ask your surgeon and/or primary care physician about the possibility of discontinuing these medications prior to your surgery/procedure. If you use an inhaler, please bring it with you to the Surgery Center. A nurse from Underwood Surgery Center will call you within a week of your surgery/procedure in order to get the following information: They will obtain your health history. If you have already completed the Health History on our site, they will verify and add anything that you may have missed. To answer any questions that you may have. You will receive a call the day before your surgery with your arrival time. |
